What is Pre-Conference?
The Area 02 Pre-Conference is a collaborative workshop where members review and discuss the Proposed Agenda Items (PAI) for the upcoming General Service Conference.
Primary Goals:
Inform & Involve: Educate the fellowship on current AA service issues.
Analyze: Break down the “pros and cons” of each proposed agenda item.
Practice Concept One: Ensure ultimate authority for AA services stays with the groups, not just the “top.”
Why It Matters:
Voices Heard: It gives every member a seat at the table in the decision-making process.
Delegate Preparation: Provides our Delegate with a clear “sense of the room” and the collective conscience of our Area.
Unity: Equips the Delegate to make informed choices that benefit the entire fellowship.
What to expect at PCA:
Socialization, presentations on the process, workshops on the Proposed Agenda Items, dinner, fellowship, a chance to learn and also to be heard.
Who goes to PCA:
Attendees typically include:
- General Service Representatives (GSRs): Representing their home groups to provide group conscience.
- District Committee Members (DCMs): Facilitating communication between groups and the delegate.
- Area Delegates: Gathering information to take to the General Service Conference in New York.
- Area Committee Members: Including officers, standing committee chairs, and past delegates.
- Interested AA Members: Any AA member is welcome to attend to learn about the service structure and third legacy procedures
