The Area 02 Assembly
The Area Committee is the main decision-making body for A.A. in Alaska. It is where the Area 02 Committee members, General Service Representatives (GSRs) from home groups, and the Area Archivist come together to conduct business and discuss area affairs. The Assembly is considered the “democratic voice” of A.A. in the state.
The Assembly meets four times every two-year period. Voting members include the Area 02 Officers, DCMs, committee chairs, GSRs, and the Area Archivist.
The Assembly’s main meetings include:
Pre-Conference Assembly (spring): Groups share their collective conscience with the Area Delegate, who then takes that information to the General Service Conference.
Election Assembly (fall, odd-numbered years): New officers, a new Delegate, and an Alternate Delegate are elected.
Budget Assembly (fall, even-numbered years): A budget for the next two years is created and approved.
