Area 02 Trusted Servant

Trusted Servants

All elected and appointed positions in Area 02 are considered trusted servant roles. Authority to carry out service work is given in line with A.A.’s Tenth Concept:
“Every service responsibility should be matched by an equal service authority—always clearly defined.”

The A.A. Service Manual and A.A. Guidelines recommend that Area Committee Chairs have at least two years of continuous sobriety. This helps protect both the individual and A.A. as a whole.

General Responsibilities of All Trusted Servants

  • Become familiar with the A.A. Service Manual, Area 02 Guidelines, and past Area actions.

  • Attend Area 02 events and district functions, providing leadership and support.

  • Communicate and cooperate with groups, districts, and Area committees.

  • Share any materials of historical value with the Area 02 Archives.

  • When rotating out, pass along records, experience, and suggestions to your successor.

  • Committee members are encouraged to attend district meetings after elections.

Standing Committees

  • Corrections – Brings A.A. meetings into correctional facilities.

  • CPC (Cooperation with the Professional Community) – Provides A.A. information to professionals.

  • Grapevine – Promotes and shares A.A.’s “meeting in print.”

  • Literature – Maintains and distributes A.A. literature.

  • Public Information (PI) – Shares A.A. information with the public and media.

  • Treatment – Carries the message into treatment facilities.

  • Bridging the Gap – Supports alcoholics transitioning from treatment or corrections into A.A. groups.
